I get emails from what appears to be overseas companies offering jobs. Are they for real or is it a scam?
The companies want you to do Bookkeeping supposedly and take in payments from vendors, take your percentage out of the checks and then forward the remainder to them by wire transfer. If it is for real you could make a lot of money, but I don’t want to get into any trouble.
No, it is not real, it is all a joke, scam, someone trying to fool you into getting killed. I should know cause I once had this money that someone was offering me and I settled it quickly by sending it tho the Untited States of America’s’ government e-mail address. They got bussted after that e-amil got accepted and read.
Would the CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) designation be worth having even if you don’t do auditing?
I am a Staff Accountant and have the experience to take this exam. Would it be worth having even if I don’t work in auditing? I figure it would be good to have if I ever work in Administration, banking, etc. Would it be worth it?
Any excess certifications cannot hurt. The CIA designation would be useful in just about any field, since the primary purpose would be to identify and enable effictive controls within an organization. As you know, external auditors are permitted to rely on a great deal of the work done by a company’s internal auditors should they deem the work was proficient and proper. I say go for it; you have nothing to lose and something to gain.
